The Problem
Statewide, Democrats are losing ground.
Since 2016, Republican voter registration efforts have led to 14% growth statewide in registered Republicans, while Florida Democrats have only grown our base by 9%. Statewide voter registration programs typically invest in high density areas of the state that lean Democratic—this approach only gets us so far. In order to create an environment where Democrats can win up and down the ballot, Democrats must invest in traditionally overlooked red counties.
The Work
Build Local Power will invest in long-term, aggressive, hyperlocal voter registration programs in red counties in Southwest Florida and will operate year-round to grow Democratic voter registration and participation, train a workforce of local Democratic staff, and strengthen relationships between local parties and state and national organizations
